Habitat for Humanity
Groundbreaking Ceremony
April 22, 2007
The groundbreaking was held for the new Queenship of Mary and Habitat family partnership, and the weather couldn't have been more perfect.
I provided assistance to the family with all of their interior color and carpet selections, and I look forward to volunteering my time to see the house come to fruition by this coming fall.
Inside New Jersey
I was one of five design professionals interviewed by the Princeton Packet for their magazine, "Inside New Jersey" The interview focused on solutions for panoramic and two-story windows.
Big windows can be a bother! That's why Linda Principe focuses on the view.
"If you have a spectacular view, you want to enhance it, not detract from it."
For her client's panoramic windows, Ms. Principe hangs soft, floral valances, which coordinate with the upholstery.
She uses decorative holders and hangs tassles from the valance to add interest.
In great rooms with two-story windows, she advises simple drapery,
anchored by thick, decorative rods (at least 3 inches diameter) with a beautiful finish.

NJAWBO Business Woman of the Year 2005
After I was awarded the Business Woman of the Year award from the Mercer Chapter of the NJ Assn. Of Women Business Owners, I was honored as the statewide Business Woman of the Year at the annual conference in Atlantic City in May.
I would like to thank all of you, my faithful clients, for your support, your business, and your referrals, as you have helped me grow my business through the years. It is because of you that I feel fortunate that I so enjoy my work and all the relationships I have developed with all of you.

Design New Jersey Q&A Column
I was featured in the December/January 2005 issue of Design NJ magazine, and here are a few key points contained in the article. If you have any questions concerning black, or any other colors, please email me!
Question: I've heard that every room should contain a touch of black. Is that true?
- Black can be included in a variety of ways into almost any décor and is one of the more popular neutrals today. The color black denotes a feeling of elegance and sophistication whenever it is used, whether it is used on clothing, automobiles, or in the home. Think about the look of a black high-gloss baby grand piano in a formal living room, or a black granite countertop and black appliances in a kitchen, or a black toilet and sink in a powder room
- As an accent or for just a touch, black creates a major impact and adds a contrast that livens up all the other colors. Imagine a monochromatic room with various shades and textures of cream and taupe. You could add a taupe pillow with a black and cream fringe, or artwork matted in black, or a black picture frame on a table.
- In a room with shades of gold, sage green and brick red, you can add a patterned area carpet with black in the pattern. Then add a black rod for the window treatments and perhaps a black tassel hanging from your lamp. The black accents would create that punch that was needed.
- Other examples of black touches would be a throw over a sofa, pillows, ottomans, urns, vases, knobs, tassels, lamp bases, just to name a few.
- People sometimes feel a negative connotation towards the color so they would never use it. Every room should be looked at individually and then determined whether black should be included.
